We arrived at the hotel with minimal
difficulties. It was easy, almost too easy. Our cab driver did his best to pump us for information but I was able to pull the old - 'no we no want chicken' linguistic judo and avoided giving away our true purpose.

Our hotel is comfortable but lacking ok beer and whiskey so we set out to hit up a local joint we heard about ok the way in. There is nothing like setting out on foot near the dead of night, in a romote unlite area of town, with only the vaguestest idea of where you are headed.

As the hours close to our departure time, I start to question the wisdom of traveling with the infamous dr. Popoff. His desire to uncover the long lost secrets of 'Libri of Silenti etc Goat' (or Loseg as I will be calling it in this journal) at any cost might be downfall of us all. Who knows what dark secrets we will uncover in the depths of Central America - our souls may never be the same again....assuming we survive. Yet nor can I turn my back on my long time friend and mentor. For better or worse our fates are entwined until this dark and twisted adventure finds an end.

A very good, smooth ice cream that makes a great dessert after a spicy meal.

One of my favorite ice creams.  It might sound a bit strange, but it is so so good.

White (or black) pepper ice cream is a surprisingly complex dessert.  It goes remarkably well with fruit desserts like cobblers and pies.  Depending on how much pepper you use - the flavor ranges from mild and interesting to intensely sharp.

This is my all time favorite sobet.  It is perfect pallet cleanser or accompaniment to a heavy, richer dessert.  I'll sometimes server this in small portions before the main dessert.  Its lively, light flavor tends to wake people up after a heavy meal.

A great thin crust pizza crust that you can make on your gas grill.  It is fast, easy and lots of fun.  I often have pizza parties where everyone gets to make their own personal pizza.  Total cook time is just a few minutes per pizza.
